The Flow Wilderness Retreat is located on the wilderness Maurelle Island, just east of Quadra Island in the Discovery Islands, surrounded by emerald green waters offering some of the finest kayaking in the world. Our central location allows us to explore three unique provincial marine parks and return to our luxury base camp each evening.

Enjoy a fresh shore lunch at a different scenic location each day. Relax after a day of adventure with our cedar-wood-fired hot tub, hot showers, hammocks and your private, cozy, cabin accommodation. Three-course gourmet meals with wine are served each evening on our seaside patio overlooking the islands of the Surge Narrows Marine Park.

Water-taxi pick up from Campbell River on Vancouver Island or Heriot Bay on Quadra Island can be arranged through our office with Discovery Launch Water Taxi. Kick back, relax and enjoy a scenic cruise through the enchanting archipelago that is the Discovery Islands.

Perched at the ocean’s edge on northern Quadra Island, Discovery Islands Lodge offers B&B accommodation, guided kayaking, and equipment rentals. It’s a world away from the city and an affordable escape for everyone with an adventurous spirit.

Completely off-grid and primarily solar powered, the lodge is a great place to relax and recharge. Casual and friendly atmosphere is shared in the upstairs dining area where healthy delicious breakfasts are served – and the kitchen is then available for guests to self-prepare other meals. Connect with family and friends in the spacious common room or enjoy the decks, all with heavenly views. A special feature is the wood-fired sauna built right on the dock!

Perfectly situated between three provincial parks, Discovery Islands Lodge is close to swimming lakes, hiking trails, and a paddling paradise out front. Nearby Surge Narrows Marine Park is a colourful drama of marine life and idyllic islets, perfect for exploring by kayak. Shorelines are coated in urchins and sea stars, and kelp beds hide fish; abundant food attracts birds and seals, as well as dolphins, sea lions, and transient whales.

The lodge offers guided kayak day trips as an easy way for paddlers of all ages and abilities to experience the beauty of Surge Narrows. Led by experienced, certified guides, these excursions include a comprehensive skills and safety lesson, high quality kayaking equipment, and a tasty home-made lunch.

Discovery Islands Lodge is locally owned by the Keller family, who also operate Coast Mountain Expeditions, one of BC’s first kayak touring companies. Coast Mountain’s multi-day kayak tours explore various routes in the Discovery Islands and are a great choice for those looking to explore even further.
